Donkey Photos

Below are pictures of my two standard donkeys, Margo and Pru - or Boxworth Margot and Waltham Mill Prudence to give them their full names.

These two donkeys were born in 1981 and have been together since they were a few months old. I have owned them since they were 11 months old.

We have done some in-hand showing with them on an off over the years and they have appeared in the local newspapers doing Palm Sunday parades. I even wrote a small book about them which was sold to raise funds for Cambridge University Veterinary School.

If you are interested in keeping donkeys then please look at my Donkey Links page where you will find plenty of personal sites written by donkey owners, and also useful societies such as the Donkey Breed Society and the Donkey Sanctuary.

I hope you enjoy the photos below.

SHOWING

In-hand showing

This is a UK donkey show and this style of showing donkeys is generally referred to as
'in-hand' showing. There are various classes - serious and more fun classes. Examples are perhaps Mares,
Stallions and Youngstock in the serious classes. Then a Veteran's class for those over a certain age -
usually 15. Then fun classes such as Pet Donkey, where you have to prove what a good pet your donkey is!!
